About us

Natural Artefacts was originally formed as a trio in 2000. After a few years’ break, when saxophonist Ove Johansson passed away in 2015, the remaining original members Susanna Lindeborg and Per Anders Nilsson started a new edition in 2018, now together with guitar player Merje Kägu and Anton Jonsson on percussion, and in 2022 saxophonist Thomas Jäderlund joined the group. The point of departure is, and has always been, a mix of acoustic and electronic instruments, where influences from different genres and traditions are central. Here we can mention free improvisation, contemporary art and experimental music, minimalism, electronica and electroacoustic music. What unites the musicians, however, is their background as jazz musicians. With a repertoire consisting of compositions, looser structures and electronic backgrounds, specially made for this setting, with jazz as a point of departure Natural Artefacts explore new and unknown musical terrain improvisationally. Natural Artefacts has so far released four albums on LJ Records, the latest being The Crux from 2019.
